Jubileo de la Misericordia / Jubilee of Mercy
OBRAS DE MISERICORDIA
En esta temporada de cuaresma reflexionaremos cada domingo en una obra corporal y una espiritual de misericordia. Dar de beber al sediento Muchos de nuestros hermanos y hermanas en Cristo no tienen acceso a agua potable y sufren de la falta de esta necesidad básica. Debemos apoyar los esfuerzos de las personas que trabajan hacia una mejor accesibilidad de este recurso esencial.
- Dona para ayudar a construir pozos de agua para los necesitados.
- Organice un grupo de niños, adolescentes, y jóvenes para recoger agua embotellada y distribuirla en un refugio de familias.
- Haga el esfuerzo de no desperdiciar agua. Cerrando la llave del agua al cepillarse los dientes o al lavar trastes ayuda, especialmente en las regiones afectadas por la sequía. Instruir a los Ignorantes Obtenga información acerca de nuestra fe y hable con otros acerca de nuestras creencias. Siempre hay algo más por descubrir acerca de nuestra fe.
- Participar en una misión. ¿No hay tiempo? Dona para apoyar a alguien a ir a una misión.
- Ser voluntario/a en alguno de los programas de educación religiosa en su parroquia.
- Invitar a alguien a ir a misa con usted este fin de semana.
WORKS OF MERCY
For this Lenten Season we will reflect each Sunday on one corporal and one spiritual work of mercy. Give Drink to the thirsty Many of our brothers and sisters in Christ do not have access to clean water and suffer from the lack of this basic necessity. We should support the efforts of those working towards greater accessibility of this essential resource.
- We take it for granted that we have access to clean water. Donate to help build wells for water for those in need.
- Organize a group of children, youth and young adults to collect bottled water to distribute at a shelter for families.
- Make an effort not to waste water. Remembering to turn off the water faucet when you are brushing your teeth or washing dishes can help, especially in regions suffering from drought. Instructing the Ignorant Learn about our faith and be open to talking with others about our beliefs. There is always something more to discover about our faith.
- Go on a service trip or short term mission trip. No time? Donate to support someone on their service trip.
- Volunteer to help with religious education programs at your parish.
- Invite someone to go to mass with you this weekend.

En esta temporada de cuaresma reflexionaremos cada domingo en una obra corporal y una espiritual de misericordia.
Alimenta al hambriento: Hay muchas personas en este mundo que se quedan sin alimentos. Cuando gran parte de nuestros alimentos se desperdician, considere cómo las buenas prácticas de administración de sus propios hábitos alimenticios pueden beneficiar a los demás que no tienen los mismos recursos.
• Investigue, identifique y contribuya financieramente a organizaciones que sirven a los hambrientos.
• Trate de no comprar más alimentos de los necesarios. Si nota que usted tira comestibles a la basura cada semana, comprar menos comida eliminaría desperdicio y permitiría que done los ahorros a los necesitados.
Aconsejar al que duda: Todo el mundo tiene momentos de duda en su camino de fe. Sin embargo, siempre debemos recordar que Cristo es el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida y que debemos volver a El a lo largo de nuestro camino.
• “Escucha el consejo, y acepta la corrección, para que seas sabio el resto de tus días”. (Proverbios 19:20 )
• ¿Alguien le ha pedido consejo? Oriente su respuesta a Cristo, que es el Camino, la Verdad y la Vida.
• Siga a Cristo con su testimonio de vida para que otros puedan ver el amor de Dios en sus acciones.
• Acompañe a un amigo que está luchando con unirse a un grupo parroquial para el servicio o la formación de la fe.
WORKS OF MERCY
For this Lenten Season we will reflect each Sunday on one corporal and one spiritual work of mercy. Feed the hungry: There are many people in this world who go without food. When so much of our food goes to waste, consider how good stewardship practices of your own food habits can benefit others who do not have those same resources.
• Research, identify and contribute financially to organizations that serve the hungry.
• Try not to purchase more food than you are able to eat. If you notice that you end up throwing groceries away each week, purchasing less groceries would eliminate waste and allow you to donate the savings to those in need.
Counseling the doubtful: Everyone has moments of doubt in their faith journey. Nevertheless, we should always remember that Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and turn to him along our way.
• “Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may eventually become wise” (Prov 19:20).
• Has someone asked you for advice? Orient your response to Christ, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life
• Follow Christ with the witness of your life so that others may see God’s love revealed in your actions.
• Accompany a friend who is struggling with believing to join a parish group for service or faith formation.
ENVIADOS EN MISIÓN / SENT ON MISSION
ENVIADOS EN MISIÓN
A la mayoría de nosotros, seguramente Dios no nos hablará de maneras extraordinarias, con revelaciones asombrosas o por medio de visiones; pero no hay duda de que Dios siempre habla y habla allí donde estemos. Isaías estaba en el templo y allí experimentó la presencia de Dios. Simón estaba en su barca y fue allí donde escuchó la llamada de Jesús a seguirle. ¿Cuántos de nosotros no hemos estado alguna vez contemplando un paisaje maravilloso, los primeros pasos de un bebé o a nuestros seres queridos, y no hemos sentido de manera extraordinariamente fuerte la presencia de Dios? Lo mismo nos puede ocurrir en cada uno de los momentos de nuestra vida en que se nos presenta una encrucijada en la que debemos tomar una decisión que puede afectarnos a nosotros mismos, nuestras familias, nuestros seres queridos o nuestros compañeros. Ahí, frecuentemente, está la voz de Dios; y la voz de Dios llama siempre a seguir su camino. Para algunos, esta llamada puede ser a constituir una familia cristiana y a trabajar honradamente, buscando siempre la verdad y la justicia en todo. Podría ser una llamada a vivir el sacramento del matrimonio escuchando conjuntamente la voz de Dios. También podría ser una llamada a optar exclusivamente por el servicio a Dios desde el sacerdocio, la vida religiosa o el compromiso total con la misión desde la vida soltera. Dios llama de diversas maneras y a diversos caminos, pero siempre llama. Lo importante es descubrir a qué nos llama a cada uno de nosotros: ¿dónde encontramos más frecuentemente la presencia de Dios? ¿Qué nos apasiona? ¿Dónde podemos encontrar la felicidad verdadera? ¿Qué nos da paz? ¿Qué nos desafía más allá de lo que pensábamos que podíamos hacer? ¿Qué estamos llamados a dejar atrás para alcanzar aquello a lo que Dios nos llama?
Para la reflexión ¿Cómo apoyo a mis hijos y demás miembros de mi familia para que escuchen y busquen la llamada de Dios en sus vidas y la sigan?
SENT ON MISSION
God surely does not speak in extraordinary ways, with astonishing revelations or through visions, to the great majority of us; but there is no doubt that God always speaks to us right where we are. Isaiah was in the temple when he experienced the presence of God. Simon was in his boat when he heard the calling from Jesus to follow. How many of us have contemplated a beautiful scenery or witnessed the first steps of a baby or our loved-ones and felt the presence of God in an extraordinarily powerful manner? The same can occur during those moments in our life when we reach a crossroad where the decision we make can affect us, our family, loved-ones, and companions. It is here where we frequently hear the voice of God; and the voice of God always calls us to follow his path. For some, this calling may be to build a Christian family and to work earnestly in our jobs and professions, seeking honesty, truth, and justice in everything we do. It could be a calling to live the sacrament of marriage, listening to the voice of God together; or to serve God exclusively from the priesthood and religious life or a complete commitment with the mission from the single life. God calls us in diverse ways and paths, but he always calls. The important thing is to discover where he is calling us to: where do we frequently encounter the presence of God? What are we passionate about? Where can we find true happiness? What gives us peace? What challenges us beyond what we thought we could do? What are we called to leave behind in order to achieve what Gods is calling us to do?
For Reflection How do I support my children and other family members so they can hear and seek God’s calling in their life, following it with all its consequences?

Jubileo de la Misericordia
Como católicos, asumimos las prácticas cuaresmales de la oración, el ayuno y la limosna cada año. Estas prácticas nos ayudan a recordar el amor y compasión misericordiosos que Dios muestra a todas las personas. Participando en estas prácticas, viajamos hacia el arrepentimiento ante nuestra comunidad y Dios y hacia la celebración del Misterio Pascual de nuestro Señor. No hacemos este viaje solos. Toda la Iglesia se prepara para la celebración, y conjuntamente, junto con los que se preparan para entrar en la Iglesia en la Vigilia Pascual, tratamos de vivir más fielmente el llamado de Dios a ser misericordiosos, amorosos y compasivos con los que nos rodean. Nuestros actos de amor a través del sacrificio y la oración son un testimonio tangible del amor de Dios a los que nos rodean. 1. Dedique algún tiempo a reflexionar sobre porqué decide participar en la oración, el ayuno y la limosna de la Iglesia durante este tiempo de Cuaresma. La próxima vez que alguien le pregunte por qué no está comiendo el pollo el viernes en el comedor, estará mejor preparado para compartir su fe en Dios, que es misericordioso y compasivo.
Jubilee of Mercy
As Catholics we take up the Lenten practices of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving every year. These practices help us to remember the merciful love and compassion that God shows all people. Participating in these practices, we journey toward repentance with our community and God and toward the celebration of the Paschal Mystery of our Lord. We do not make this journey alone. The whole Church prepares for the celebration and together, along with those who are preparing to enter the Church at the Easter Vigil, we try to live more faithfully to God’s call to be merciful, loving, and compassionate to those around us. Our acts of love through sacrifice and prayer are a tangible witness of God’s love to those around us. 1. Spend some time in reflection about why you choose to participate in the prayer, fasting, and almsgiving of the Church during this Lenten season. Next time someone asks you why you aren’t eating the chicken on Friday in the lunchroom, you’ll be better prepared to share your belief in God who is merciful and compassionate.
