Nuestra Cultura:

A veces algunas personas no buscan superarse y estudiar más, por falta de reconocimiento de los talentos intelectuales que poseen; o no ofrecen sus talentos en su comunidad, porque no son conscientes de que los tienen.

Reflexiones para la homilía

Algunos maestros utilizan la Parábola de los Talentos para decirles a los alumnos que hay que estudiar más y esforzarse al máximo; y que usar nuestros talentos significa estar atentos y hacer bien nuestro trabajo.

Asimismo, se nos ha dicho que incluso en caso de que las cosas no se consigan fácilmente, debemos esforzarnos más, porque se nos ha dado la capacidad; y que hay que mirar a quienes lograban resultados aun con limitaciones y dificultad, para que ver cómo con sus talentos —los pocos que han recibido— logran más que algunos que han recibido mucho más, pero no lo aprovechaban bien.

La vida, nuestra personalidad, nuestras habilidades, la familia en que hemos nacido, los recursos y las oportunidades económicas que tenemos son dones y talentos.

Hoy Jesús nos recuerda que no debemos enterrar nuestros talentos; tenemos que ponerlos a trabajar; pero, ¿para qué? ¿Para lograr una vida mejor para nosotros? ¿Para tener más dinero? ¿Para ser felices y aprovecharnos de esos dones? Los talentos recibidos no son para nuestro disfrute personal, sino para los demás, para que vayamos construyendo el Reino de Dios aquí en la tierra.

Las mejores fiestas son aquellas en las que quienes van aportan algo.

Todos gozamos de todo y cada uno aporta lo que tiene o lo que sabe hacer; eso es poner los talentos al servicio de la fraternidad; y es lo que Jesús nos pide que hagamos en nuestra familia y nuestra comunidad.

¿Cuáles son mis talentos y habilidades? ¿Me los guardo para mí? ¿Cómo podría usarlos para el bienestar de los demás? ¿Pretendo a veces recibir y no dar?

Our Culture

Sometimes people fail to seek greater achievement and study more because they do not recognize the intellectual talents they possess; or they do not offer their talents in their community, because they are unaware that they have them.

Homily Reflection

Some teachers use the Parable of the Talents to tell their students that they needed to study more, to put in the maximum effort; and that to use our talents means paying attention and doing our job well.

Likewise, we have been told that even in case things do not come with ease, we have to put in greater effort because we have been given the ability; and that we must look at those who achieve results albeit with limitations and difficulty, so that we could see how with their talents—the little they received—they achieve more than those who have received much more but do not take advantage of it.

Life, our personality, our abilities, the family we have been born into, the economic resources and opportunities we have are all gifts and talents.

Jesus reminds us today that we must not bury our talents; we have to put them to work; but, to what purpose? To attain a better life for ourselves? To have more money? To be happy and benefit ourselves from these gifts? The talents received are not for our own personal enjoyment; they are given to help others, so that we can continue building

the Reign of God here on earth.

The best feasts are the ones where those who attend bring something.

Everyone enjoys everything and each one brings what they have and what they know how to do; this is putting talents in the service of the fraternity; and it is what Jesus asks us to do in our family and our community.

What are my talents and abilities? Do I keep them to myself? How can I use them in benefit of others? Do I sometimes seek to receive and not give?
