La importancia del misionero

Desde que inició el cristianismo Jesucristo les ordenó a sus discípulos que fueran misioneros. La orden es clara y directa: “Id por todo el mundo y predicad el evangelio a toda criatura” (Marcos16:15). Después de algún tiempo los cristianos, ya sea por huir de las persecuciones o cumplir con el mandato, predicaron el evangelio por todo el mundo. En nuestros días es difícil pensar que exista un lugar en el mundo en donde no conozcan de Jesús de Nazaret. Hay cuestiones que hoy se han analizado para determinar si las palabras de Jesucristo siguen vigentes o es necesario hacerlas a un lado porque ya se han cumplido. Una de estas cuestiones es el trabajo del misionero. Brevemente presentaré una reflexión del misionero y su trabajo.

¿Que es el trabajo misionero? En la actualidad significa enseñar el mensaje de Jesucristo a personas de culturas diferentes a la del misionero. Generalmente se piensa en aquellas sociedades que no han escuchado el evangelio o en donde la penetración de este ha sido muy débil. Podemos añadir aquellas regiones en donde se tiene un evangelio distorsionado.

¿Cómo se hace el trabajo misionero? Un misionero debe prepararse primero. Las áreas de preparación son el estudio de la Biblia y las doctrinas cristianas, el conocimiento de la sociedad a donde irá (historia, costumbres, organización política y social, y las leyes) y el idioma o dialecto. El segundo paso es adaptarse a la sociedad. Deberá visitar la sociedad y conocerla personalmente. Finalmente deberá adaptar el mensaje del evangelio a la sociedad para que este se entienda en el sentido que tiene y pueda haber conversiones. El objetivo del misionero deberá ser el de formar iglesias locales dentro de esa sociedad y ayudarlas hasta que puedan ser autónomas y crecer bajo su propio impulso, pudiéndose decir que una vez logrado esto el misionero habrá cumplido su trabajo satisfactoriamente.

Resumen: El trabajo del misionero es importante y necesario en nuestros días. Todavía hay muchos lugares que viven apartados de Dios. Existe un gran avivamiento en la cual ya ha empezado a enviar misioneros a otras partes del mundo. Que Dios bendiga la obra de aquellos que extienden su reino y pelean la buena batalla. Amén.

The importance of missionaries

Since the beginning of Christianity Jesus Christ ordered his disciples to be missionaries. The command is clear and direct: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). After some time, Christians, whether by fleeing persecution or fulfilling the mandate, preached the gospel throughout the world. In our day it is difficult to think that there is a place in the world where they do not know Jesus of Nazareth. There are questions that have been analyzed today to determine if the words of Jesus Christ are still in force or need to be set aside because they have already been fulfilled. One of these questions is the work of the missionary. I will briefly present a reflection of the missionary and his/her work.

What is missionary work? Today it means to teach the message of Jesus Christ to people from cultures different from the missionary’s. It is generally thought of those societies that have not heard the gospel or where the penetration of this gospel has been very weak. We can add to this list those regions where the gospel has been distorted.

How is missionary work done? A missionary must prepare first. The areas of preparation are the study of the Bible and Christian doctrines, the knowledge of the society where it will go (history, customs, political and social organization, and laws) and language or dialect. The second step is to adapt to the society. You must visit the society and meet it personally. Finally, the missionary must adapt the message of the gospel to the society so it is understood in the right sense and thus, facilitate conversions. The objective of the missionary should be to form local churches within that society and help them until they can be autonomous and grow under their own impulse, in the hope that once this has been achieved the missionary will have fulfilled his work satisfactorily.

Summary: Missionary work is important and necessary in our day. There are still many places that live apart from God. There is a great revival in which he has already begun to send missionaries to other parts of the world. May God bless the work of those who extend their kingdom and fight the good fight. Amen.
